Just eat food.

What you need to avoid is unfermented soy in all its forms - soy flour, soy oil, soy protein, etc. Which means avoiding all processed foods because they're packed with it. Always read the labels. And avoid seed oils, because they're highly processed, too.

Apart from that, just eat a normal diet. There is no magic food that is going to be 'good for your thyroid', no 'super food' to make you feel well.

However, I would recommend getting your vit d, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested, to make sure they're optimal - as opposed to just 'in range'. Hypos often have low nutrients due to low stomach acid. You are not what you eat, you are what you absorb. :)

I get the feeling you're being sarcastic. But, I have no idea what you expected. What exactly do you expect out of a 'diet'? Just saying it's for hypo is rather none specific and I've never heard of a diet for hypo - a diet to stop you being hypo? A diet to make you hypo?

If you have high antibodies, a condition known as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which causes people to become hypo, the a lot of people find it helpful to go on a gluten-free diet, because it lowers antibodies. But, that is not specifically for hypothyroidism, that is for the Hashi's.

Some people recommend an autoimmune paleo diet - AIP - but, once again, that is for the antibodies.

Some people go on a low-calorie diet because they've put on weight, but that is exactly the wrong thing to do because it will affect conversion and make you more hypo.

Just eat a normal diet of about 2000 calories for a woman - but do not count them! - which includes plenty of protein and good fat, fresh fruit and veg, some carbs, not too much fibre and enough salt.

What else can I say? There is no specific diet for hypo.

I have Hashimoto's and have been following the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol for about a year. It reduces inflammation and symptoms. It is not specifically for thyroid conditions, but any autoimmune condition i.e. Chron's, M.S., Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is a gut healing diet and starts with eliminating all foods apart from grass fed meat, fish, vegetables. It promotes the consumption of bone broth and fermented foods such as kefir. Then you slowly introduce foods to see which ones increase your symptoms. Good websites are: The Paleo Mom, Phoenix Helix and Autoimmune Wellness. It has really helped me.

Probably a ketogenic diet.

Looking at your other post you are asking on behalf of your Mum

You say, She has some digestive gastric problems, this suggests that she may have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's. This is diagnosed by testing thyroid antibodies. TPO and TG antibodies.

If she has Hashimoto's then very many find strictly gluten free diet helps. Avoid all wheat, rye and barley.

Are you living in Portugal? Not sure how gluten aware Portugal is
