No improvement at all after 3 months of Gluten and Dairy Free. Is this normal?!

Hi Everyone,

I have Hashis (but not yet on any medication as yet to find the right doc as TSH levels are 'normal'). I did however go gluten and dairy free 3 months ago to try and help the symptoms.

I don't feel any benefits at all, I am still just as tired, anxious, irritable as I was and perhaps even worse.

Has anyone else not experienced a change when trying an autoimmune diet?

It is most probably because you aren't taking thyroid hormone replacements. That is the priority if hypo or hashi's. We need thyroid hormones as our body cannot function at all without them.

If you email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org.uk for a copy of Dr Toft's Pulse online article. In this highlight the part where he states that if antibodies are present we should be prescribed levothyroxine.

Show to your doctor and state you want to be prescribed levo.

Dr Toft was president of the BTA.
