Jazanne,

It looks as though you may have a small goitre but I'm not certain. If you stand in front of a mirror and look at your throat when you swallow some water and see a lump moving up and down as you swallow that can indicate a thyroid nodule or goitre.

Hi, it does move up and down ,but i was.nt sure if that was a natural thing when we swallow x

Jazzanne,

It's natural for the Adam's Apple to rise and fall but not for anything else.

Ask your GP to palpate your throat and if s/he can feel a lump or swelling to arrange for you to have an ultrasound scan to check the condition of your thyroid gland.

thank you the lump that also goes up and down is just below adams apple x
