First question is how do you feel?

Do you also have high thyroid antibodies? You need to know. Did GP test these? If not ask that they are tested.

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known as autoimmune thyroid disease). About 90% of hypothyroidism in UK is due to Hashimoto's.

With Hashimoto's you can get swings in levels as thyroid dumps extra hormones, known as a Hashimoto's flare. So levels can go up and down

Full testing of FT3 and FT4 at same time is essential. If FT3 is not over range, level is fine

High FT4 can increase reverse T3, but as NHS never test this, (or rarely test T3 either) you'd need private tests

GP can and should test essential vitamins. Low vitamins that affect thyroid are vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. Important to test these. If they are too low they stop Thyroid hormones working.

Have these been tested, if so post here, if not ask that they are. Always get actual results and ranges.

I have hashimoto and my vit d level was low in my previous test so I am taking 10,000 iu vit d with cofactors vit k 2 and megnisium and overall I am feeling better .but weight gain and sometime heart racing is there .

Get ferritin, folate and B12 tested.

Good to hear you are supplementing vitamin D, magnesium and K2

As you have Hashimoto's then hidden food intolerances may be causing issues, most common by far is gluten. Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms and eventually start to lower antibodies. Very very many of us here find it really helps and can slowly lower antibodies, improving symptoms.

Nothing wrong with those labs, as they stand. But where's the FT3? You do not know anything about your thyroid status without the FT3. If you're still gaining weight, then the odds are that you aren't converting that T4 to T3, but you're never going to know unless you get the FT3 tested.

I will ask my gp about T3 Let's see what she will say about it.

Just where do these hopeless assays come from? FT4 range ridiculously too low. TSH range too wide especially at the top end. Diagnosing using these is a minefield. The lab concenred should be ashamed of itself producing stuff like that.

I am

Worried how to keep both in range I assume my gp doesn't know much about thyroid stuff.

Not what you're looking for?
