So this pass April of 2017 I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. My neck is starting to push out a little causing the back of my neck to hurt. I was told by a doctor that they will give me a pill that will destroy the thyroid organ in my body or have them cut it out. I'm don't know what to do right now.

Didn't they put you on Carbimazole ? Seems a bit drastic 😱
Im hyper aswell.only diagnosed 1half month ago and taking carbimazole 20mgs, i have you seen endocrinologist yet ive just had my appointment cancelled twice now, it just seems abit quick sherrieny, my neck also gives me discomfort and is swollen at sides and the front, i think dov means rai treatment?
Have you had blood tests done with the ranges to post on here. Also what meds have you been given. Is it a goitre that is growing in your neck. Have they told you why it is pushing out. If you have RAI which is radio active iodine it will Kill the thyroid gland and stop it producing hormones. The same with thyroidectomy surgery. You will have to take a replacement for that. A lot of people one here have many problems getting the levels right and many regret having taken that step especially if it wasn't absolutely necessary. It's usually necessary i think if you have cancer or obstruction of the wind pipe. If it was me, I would research this and find out more about it. Are you UK based or USA. Val
