Endo said what all you lovely experts said. He didn't recommend NDT as I have had thyca but has recommended adding T3 (starting on 3 x 5mcg a day) to my T4 and reducing the T4 from 175 to 150mcg a day. He will tell my GP what blood tests need doing. If it works he will also recommended I be prescribed T3 as a named case. He couldn't promise anything but it will show my stupid GP she knows nothing!

Songbird1960,

Endo sounds very helpful.

While Liothyronine is still in the BNF there's no need to write named patient scripts. If it is withdrawn from NHS prescribing your GP may be able to write a named patient basis prescription but can't be obliged to do so.

Rightly or wrongly the CCG in my area has pre-empted the consultation decision and has stopped doctors prescribing T3. I guess what endo means is he will make a case to the local CCG for me.

Songbird1960,

I believe CCGs have the right to do so but they are supposed to consult first and not just impose decisions on local practices and patients.
