joy12 A thyroid review who with? If your GP just make an appointment to see him/her to discuss.

And if you're symptomatic and your results show high TSH and low free Ts then you need as much Levo as you need, regardless of age.

If your oseophagus feels like it's burning you need to see your GP about that.

Joy12,

I think your GP is confused. A recent study found that elderly patients who develop mild low thyroid might not benefit from Levothyroxine but that isn't the same as saying an elderly patient who is already being treated for hypothyroidism needs less Levothyroxine.

Ask your GP receptionist for a printout of your thyroid results and ranges and post them in a new question and we will advise whether you were optimally dosed on 125mcg or overmedicated.

Gets me so annoyed that aging seems to say that we must slow down! Rubbish! The big picture needs to be looked at as it's also been but reducing meds just because you teach a certain age without looking at bloods is stupid! I subscribed to MediChecks as I have a drug allery so use it as a double in case it does t flag up in the pharmacy if I'm prescribed it. But when I was 60 or 65 I got a report damning Levo because of my age and telling me I must reduce it! If you are correctly monitored I can't see a problem. We will get the joint pain, fuzzy brain etc that is associated with age! I'm more inclined to screen everyone who reach 60 for thyroid problems!
