Hi, my thyroid review is due but they have changed the appointment system so the earliest appointment is 11am 🙄 If I ate breakfast at 7.30am would that impact the test results? I won't take my meds until after but as I have to go into work early i will struggle to manage without breakfast.
Thanks

Yes, it would have an impact as stated in the excerpt below:
Conclusion:
1. Results:
TSH was suppressed in all subjects after food irrespective of the fasting levels. and....................................
TSH levels showed a statistically significant decline postprandially in comparison to fasting values. This may have clinical implications in the diagnosis and management of hypothyroidism, especially SCH.
Because looking back at past results where I have fasted for other reasons there is no significant difference in thyroid results, fasting or not. We are all different so maybe it affects some and not others.
That's ridiculous only offering times after 11am. Are times before then reserved for those that have to be fasted I wonder?
At my surgery the early appointments go very quickly so I get my draw done at the local hospital that has a phlebotomy clinic. They open from 7.30am and it's walk-in, just take your blood form with you. Maybe you have a local hospital / clinic that does this too? Might be worth enquiring.
My gp practice normally only offers blood tests before 10am - they have a phlebotomist who comes in some days to help get through them all. I discovered this when I needed to change my appointment for some reason - as I’m hyper, the increase in TSH is of less concern (I’d eaten breakfast and lunch, and it still didn’t push my TSH off the floor !)
