T3 trial

Hi All, I have a family member who is traveling to Turkey soon, I would like to try adding a bit of T3 and reducing Levo due to high FT4 results.

Is it as easy as going to a pharmacy and asking for Tiromel or will they need proof of diagnosis I.E. prescription info ?

Any help would be appreciated.

TimD250172,

Tiromel T3 is available over the counter in pharmacies, no prescription required. 100 x 25mcg costs between €2-€3. Your relative should allow 48-72 hours for the pharmacy to order it if they have none in stock.

TimD250172,

If you post your recent thyroid results and ranges members can advise whether you need to reduce Levothyroxine dose when you add T3. You should buy a pillcutter so you can quarter the 25mcg into 6.25mcg doses.
