Feel a wreck. Help
I am really sorry for you as we seem to be in a maze - don't know which way to turn and no answers/help for the medical profession.
I am hypo so cannot help and those members with similar experiences will respond soon.
Thankyou. Just want to see that light at the end of the tunnel. I just have to keep going.
I think it will help when you see your antibodies test tomorrow, you'll be able to get a better idea of what's going on then. At the moment you're being treated as though hyperthyroid but I don't think you've had that diagnosis confirmed yet have you?
Once you've got a definite diagnosis a treatment plan or at least the next step can be worked out. It's just seems to be taking so long!!
Hello, doc says it hyperthyroidism and have been on carbimazole for 8 days now 20mgs 1 a day . When admitted to hospital last week they took thyroids and antibodies. If ig turns out to be antibodies is the treatment different. I think greygoose said a whileback she had a feeling with my blood results that it could be hashis on a hyper swing. Doc did not do antibodies so hospital did on tuesday nut they werent through on friday.x
If a patient has antibodies for Hashimotos and not for Graves disease then a low TSH causing symptoms would be a Hashi flare. This would mean it was a temporary flarup and will settle down into hypothyroidism again. I'm not medically qualified and I don't have Hashimotos so this is my understanding from my reading.
Antibodies results should confirm a diagnosis and help to guide the next steps.
If you are hyperthyroid with Graves disease, I think doctors will sometimes refer the patient to an endocrinologist.
Chase up your results tomorrow and find out what next.
Are you taking Propranaolol as that helped me enormously with the breathlessness?
When exactly did the breathlessness start?
Hello silver fairy, i was diagnosed 2 weeks ago now being hyper but previous to that i was getting breathless, didnt realise at the time i was hyper.only been on carbimazole for 8 days at 20mgs and just feel worse and still need to sort tablets out for ferritin az it is very low
Low ferritin could be contributing
