i know metformin depletes B12 and im on 1500mg day metformin

i dont supplement B12

feeling shattered lately

like every last bit of energy has been sucked from me

chest pains on and off

and a heavy feeling all over

i think my last b12 was about mid 500 and that was a few months ago

metformin doesn't deplete B12 - it can cause problems with extracting B12 from your food and that can lead to a B12 deficiency.

why are you taking metformin? the symptoms you describe could be caused by a number of conditions - including throid, B12 and diabetes.

suggest that you talk to your GP.

If you need support getting them to take the possibility of B12 deficiency seriously then you can get support on the PAS forum.

a level of 500 (ng/L or pmol/L?) is generally a good level for serum B12 - though interpreting the test and using it as a single marker for B12 deficiency can be problematic.
