Hello there i have recentley been diagnosed myself and started carbimazole one week ago, my symptons are like yours very anxious and also palpitations, trembling, breathless, one time loads of energy the next totally exhausted. I joined this site 2 weeks ago and people here are full of experience and kind words who will take the time to explain things like they have to me. Ive been told carbi takes a while to kick in and should be around 3 to 8 weeks, to see a slight improvement, as doc will start you on a low dose first People told me here that you should have regular blood tests every 4-6 weeks to check your levels, also i take it your doctor as referred you to a endocrinoligist.

You have done well to go to work as i am not able to at present as doctor signed me off, you need to take it easy as your body is all out of whack. Has the doc prescribed you beta blockers as they do help many people especially with being anxious and palpitations. my bloid pressure was through the roof

You can also screenshot your bloods for thyroid and iron levels and thyroid antibodies wirh lab ranges on this site and people will view them and give advice, without this forum i dont know what i had done, i was a complete mess the evening of being diagnosed. It is very normal to feel poorly with this, my boss at work thought the thyroid was a little gland in your neck that gets achey!!!!! Hang on in there and get all the help you need from these lovely caring people here, another thing i have learnt is we are in charge of our own well being, and most docs dont have a clue, i hope you have a good sympathetic doctor. Sorry its so long a chat.

Im sure you will have loads of replys from people who have been and gone through it all and can give you more experience than i can. But yes i feel exactly the same .xx

Sorry thought you were new to thyroid issues, in that case you could probably tell me a few things☺ it's tough when we are poorly and have to try and carry on, i know how you feel i have not been working now for 10 days and doc has signed me off till fri coming but i know i wont be going back then, my sick record was not brillant previous to coming down with thyroid, i prefer to work always have but feel quite poorly at the moment as i am no way near to being regulated yet. I work in a busy civil service office. Its so bad that we have to have the stress of losing our jobs on top of trying to get better, i dont see endoc until october. When was you diagnosed?

Feeling anxious us normal especially as you are hyper and have heard from people here that stress can trigger the thyroid, 😠

I was first diagnosed in 2001 it was a bad time I felt very unwell, there wasn't any forums back then so it was a case of muddle through. I went back to work after about a month it was too soon. I kept taking the carb for about 2 years then I was ok for about 12 years then started getting symptoms again in2014. So been back on carb for about 2years was feeling ok but stress at work made everything worse I am trying to keep stress to a minimum. Docs don't appreciate how rotten you feel with it. I do know how you feel I ended up worrying about everything. At the time I didn't think I was ever going to get there again it's not like a broken arm you get all sympathy with that but not with thyroid problems. It does take a while for the tablets to start working your doctor can increase the dose I think the maximum is 40 mg. I hope you found this post helpful! Hang in there!

If the carb is working then it could also be a vitamin or mineral deficiency. I had extreme anxiety, especially at night, despite being perfectly euthyroid on carb. Then Elaine Moore recommended magnesium as being hyper can severely deplete your stores of magnesium. It made a huge difference. Doctors don't tend to think of vutamins n minerals but it can make a huge difference so could be something to investigate?

Hi Th-cat and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately it looks like your post fell through the cracks a bit possibly due to the BH weekend. You might want to try reposting with a bit more background to help attract replies. Also try 'help carb not working well', 'hyper and struggling' or something similar as your heading to attract hyper experienced members who can help better. I cant help much as I am hypo rather than hyper.

Do you have any test results for thyoid or nutrients, if so include them with the all important ranges. Are you on block and replace ie carb and levo (orT3) or just the carb to block. Is your hyper autoimune? Do you supplement if so what and how much of each.

List any other symptoms as they may point to a need for a dose change or possible nutrient deficiencies which are comon in thyroid patients

Mention your stress levels as I know it plays havoc with adrenals and cortisol levels which is a problem for hypo medication, it may effect hypers that way too.

If you havent had a recent blood test it certainly sounds like it would be a good idea as your dose might just need a little adjusting. There are good, relatively inexpensive private labs we can recommend if needed/prefered.

I hope some of the above gets you the advice you need, sorry I cant help more.
