German Thybon

I have been lucky enough to get my GP to give me a private prescription for some Liothyronine. I've tried to order from VersandApo but not sure how to go about it. I've put it in the basket but it doesn't show an amount and it seems they want the prescription posted. Has anyone on here done this and if so did you post or email your prescription?

Hi I've just read your post,I emailed Versandapo to ask if I could get thybon henning they replied to me saying I had to post the prescription which I did two days ago,my prescription isn't a private one its for 60 liothyronine tablets a months supply I take one twice a day,I know it's 30 euros for a hundred tablets not sure much I'll get charged for 60 I don't care as long as I get them,I'll let you know when I hear from them.

So have you paid for it yet? I got in a muddle. Put it in the basket but because they hadn't seen the prescription it couldn't put the amount in so charged me 8 euros for postage as my order of nothing was under 20 euros. I scanned and emailed the prescription and got a reply to say that was Ok but I've posted the original too. Not heard any more yet.

I haven't paid anything yet till they receive my prescription,my only concern is I sent it with a first class stamp I don't know if I should have paid more because it's going to Germany.

When did you send yours?

Did you pay extra cause it was going to Germany?

I sent mine yesterday and they said first class would still be 2 - 3 days so it seemed silly paying more. Next day would have been £44 so I wasn't doing that. I did ask for proof of posting though.

Under 100g costs £1.17 to Europe. Sometimes they charge the other end / recipient the difference plus a surcharge. Hopefully you put you address on the back in case they decline to pay the excess.

They charged me £1.17 and yes, I did put my address on the back. Fingers crossed this all pans out OK.

Should be fine then. I thought you meant you put a 64p stamp on! 🤦🏾‍♀️😊 in reply to Rosie2Poppy's reply.

Rosie2poppy - you say your prescription is not a private one. So could I ask my GP for a print out prescription for T3 (as has been happening for the last few years) and send that printed green prescription to Germany? I know I would have to pay but it's just I don't know if my GP would be bothered to do me a prescription. Also can GPs do private prescriptions? A bit confused on this... but getting desperate to have a stable source of T3.

I've been getting a printed prescription for a couple of years I normally go to my local chemist and get it dispensed for the poor quality Mercury pharma liothyronine, this is the first time I've done this so hopefully I get thybon henning I thought I would try and see what happens.

If your GP doesn't normally prescribe liothyronine I doubt he will give it to you to get it in Germany,my GP doesn't know about me sending my prescription abroad yet!!!!!

Thanks. I've been getting an NHS prescription for Liothyronine for many years but this week my GP sent me a letter saying my CCG had decided to prevent her from prescribing. In the past I have bought small amounts from abroad, various countries, but that now seems to be hit and miss. I have been racking my brain to find a definite source. And wondered if Germany was my answer. Now my NHS green prescription has stopped I would have to either have a quiet word in my GP's ear and beg or find someone to do a private prescription. Don't know if an NHS Gp can do a private prescription? Very confused today !!!

Your GP can write a private prescription but if he/she doesn't I'm sure someone on the message board can direct you to an endo who will.

Good luck

Sorry I didn't answer about private prescription, you could ask your GP to write you a private one for a 100 tablets thybon henning which cost 30 euros plus postage hopefully he does it,how shocking 100 thybon henning so cheap compared to Mercury pharma costs.

Sorry - to be vague today. Will the German Thybon supplier accept the NHS green prescription? But maybe my GP won't be able to print one out any more now CCG says not to prescribe.

Rosie2poppy profile image
Rosie2poppy in reply tomarigold22

Please don't mention this German supplier to your GP it will cause problems for people in desperate need for thybon henning.I'm trying it once with an NHS prescription to see if I get it, I'm going to try and get a private prescription for 100 tablets my NHS one is for 60 but they only supply packs of 50 or 100 so if I do get them I'll only get a 50 pack I don't think they'll send more than the prescription states.

Thanks. I won't mention it to my GP. I certainly do not want to cause problems for us T3.ers

German pharmacies can choose to accept NHS prescriptions. (I am not familiar with private prescriptions, but there are very strict standards to which NHS do actually adhere - the old days of a private prescription being on plain paper/letterhead with a scribble are just not going to cut the mustard.)

Of course, the NHS will not pay anything if you use the prescription outwith the UK.

Royal Mail charge if anything you buy from abroad if it's over £16.

It warned me there might be customs to pay too. At least 100 tablets will last me 8 months as I only take 10 mcg a day so won't have to do this too often thank goodness. Just hope they are dated well ahead.

Not if it is from another country which is also in the EU, they don't.

And it is over £15!

Got my bill today so have paid the 30.41 euros. Now I just have to wait and see if I get customs this end but will be so relieved to get it and know I'm OK for a bit.

They've arrived so I can relax a bit now. They are dated until February next year so will expire before I've used them so next time I will order 50.

To those who have got theirs from the pharmacy in Germany (VersandApo) did the prescription have to state Thybon Henning? My endo is only willing to write liothyronine sodium 10mcg a day as 20mcg tablets. Will this stop me getting it as isn't that version liothyronine hydrochloride? Help please! Getting so disheartened by all this

helvella profile image
helvellaAdministrator in reply toRed86

Will your endo not write just "liothyronine"?

Summer64 profile image
Summer64

I told mine that it was called Thybon but he put 20mcg Liothyronine tablets half to be taken daily 100 tablet. I have since found out they do packs of 50 so will ask for 50 next time as the date runs out on mine in February so 3 months will be wasted.

If you keep your T3 bone dry (avoid damp and condensation), in a cool place, and out of bright sunlight, you will probably be fine using it after the expiry date.

Besides, you might need to raise your dose of T3 at some point, so it may get used faster than you expect.
