It depends how good the endocrinologist you are seeing is. Endos tend to be diabetes specialists rather than thyroid specialists. If you are having eye problems an optometrist is likely to be more helpful.
You'll need to be off gluten for a few weeks more if you hope to see improvement in digestion and it may take a year or more for antibodies to drop through g-f diet.
Not sure whether Conjuctival Chalasis and Hashimoto's are connected, have a look at the link below.
I have been on on the American website 'Review of optometry', that is where i found out about the connection with Hashimotos & Conjunctival Chalasis.
It say's
"One prospective study found that the prelavance of Conjunctival Chalasis in patients with autoimmune thyroid eye diseases was as high as 88%, so, make sure to rule out any association with Thyroid disease, if thyroid disease is present, an endocrinologist should initiate systemic treatment".
This is what prompted me to ask for the endocrinologist referral.
It is a very distressing & uncomfortable condition & has left me stuck at home with wet cotton wool over my left eye, as sometimes it is the only bit of relief.
I have seen an Optomologist, whobgave ne the diagnosis & then discharged me- pretty useless.
Then i paid to see an Optometrist, she felt that i should persue the nutritional route.
I can feel an improvement with my digestion being off of gluten, but not the eye yet as i said.
Intetesting to note that it may take a while.
Just hoping that i get an informed endocrinologist!!!
I wonder what the study meant by systemic treatment? As far as I'm aware there isn't treatment for Hashimoto's but steroid treatment has been used to dampen immune system to reduce antibodies in Hashi's women with very high antibodies who are trying to conceive.
Need all the results to determine whether or not you are a poor converter. Post your Medichecks results and ranges in a new post when you get them and I'll have a look.
