Iodine Free Diet - ARGH!

So I am on the iodine free diet in preparation for a thyroid uptake scan. I have a multinodular goiter that was shown on an ultrasound and all my blood tests were fine with exception to thyroidglobulin (?) that was slightly elevated. I have developed alcohol intolerance and some other weird symptoms that have led to this scan.

It is only day one and all of the symptoms I was having (pain in my neck, choking sensation, cough, feeling of mucous in my throat) are happening with a vengeance 10x what I was experiencing before. Has this happened to anyone else? Any tips?

Anticloud,

I had no symptoms when I did low iodine diet for 2-3 weeks. Why would not eating iodine rich food cause symptoms?
