Today I have been diagnosed with an Under Active Thyroid & Anaemia. I decided to get a blood test as I have been feeling very tired of late. Also my partner has recently been diagnosed with Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpora & we were curious as to what my platelet count was. My platelets were fine.
My eye sight is not the best but lately I have blurred vision, dizziness & Im wondering if this could have any connection to the Thyroid.
I know nothing about this except for what Google is telling me! I am age 41 & a Mum of 5 so feeling tired really is not an option for me 😳😊

Hypothyroidism and anaemia together could cause a range of symptoms but I would get my eyes checked at opticians too just to rule out any eye problems.
Thank you for your reply. Yes I think that is a good idea.
What are your lab results - can you post them here with ranges? And what is your md doing to address the anemia? Please read the following post similar to yours suggesting what steps need taking:
Thank you for your reply. I don't know my lab results. My Doc just told me that they show Anaemia & Hypothyroidism. I have been prescribed Iron tablets Galfer 305MG & Eltroxin 50 MCG Tabs.
The goal here is to educate ourselves to achieve optimal health - something we just don't achieve usually with 1 size fits all healthcare. If you seek a solution or even just improvement it is vital you get your lab results and post them here for feedback. It is what is required from all of us in the forum in order to gain critical feedback as to what is happening with our bodies. Without lab reports all one can offer is guesswork.... Not what I would want as advice.
To repeat: The following is a typical post with lab posted results for your reference. The reply is def worth reading as it discusses nutrient levels and what we need to do to address deficiencies (Such as Anemia).
If you are Hypo we often have malabsorption problems and gut issues which in turn leads to these nutrient deficiencies. Until we address all our deficiencies our dosage often cannot be converted properly by our body. Period. Many of us adopt a gluten free diet as a way to fight chronic inflammation also. There is a steep learning curve but you are in the right place if you are truly looking for help and a way to become proactive with your health.
If in the UK you have the absolute right to have your blood test results.I get mine online so no issue of having to pay for printed page. You need to keep them for comparison with later results. Once diagnosed GPs tend to only test TSH and this is not good enough for proper treatment so many use private testing.
Do not take no for an answer ,if they want to charge for a print out copy the screen yourself!
For really comprehensive labs many members here go the route via private labs for best results. You can get a list of these thru the Thyroid UK site. Many NHS docs only test the 2 levels you got (free T4 and THS). These are inadequate for a fully comprehensive review as they fail to show the necessary Free T3, TPO antibodies, and nutrient levels!
He likely won't have many answers - by and large most GPS are woefully ill equipped to treat thyroid. A runny nose maybe, but not this. There are some exceptions but they are few and far between! And many Endos are the same having their training primarily in Diabetes. For that reason I also recommend checking out the thyroid U.K. Site for their list of "thyroid friendly" mds available upon request if you contact them via email.
Welcome to the forum have a look on the athyroid U.K. site who run this forum. Lots of useful info and things to do or not to do-sounds a bit daunting at first but hopefully it will all fall into place. Shout out if anything you don't understand and we shall help you through it. Always get into the habit of getting a opt of you bloods and the ranges. Ranges are important as they differ from lab to lab so if he asked for help understanding your results etc then without the ranges we would just be guessing. Lots to learn put don't try to do it all at once and it will soon become second nature.
