Hypothyroidism and weight gain

I am new here.

I have hypothyroidism and also empty sella syndrome. I never knew what a weight problem was until I suddenly seemed to put almost 4 stone in weight on about 10 years ago.

My endocrinologist said she will start me on T3 does any one know if it will help with my weight problem?

It should, if she allows you to take enough to bring your FT3 up to the top of the range. But, that will suppress your TSH, and doctors don't like that!

In some (many?) with empty sella syndrome, TSH might be on the floor already.

Oh yes, of course. :(

Even so, she still might not want to give you enough.
