Daughter has been told to get her bloods tested frequent by the endocrinologist for they will wait for the thyroid to collapse as it's easier to treat! This has being going on for a few years, the GP wrote to them recently because it was getting out off hand, gland always badly swollen constant anti biotics! Only to be rebuffed by this consultant stating my daughter knew what was happening. Spoke to daughter yesterday she's so tired, tests due in August could anyone advise please what blood tests she should request for a full blood analagist.

Many thanls

That's disgraceful! To leave your daughter feeling so unwell.

Tests needed -

TSH, FT3, FT4, also antibodies.

Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin.

Is your daughter in the UK? Maybe ask for a second opinion.

Yep we live in Uk she was seen at Craigavon Area Hospital. I will tell her what to ask for re blood tests. I only be came aware yesterday at dinner for my GP requested info from the endocrinologist about my emergency injection kit for Addison's and I received a copy.

My copy was in short I had been in formed about kit! No neither had GP! I had been informed about 6 day rule !No and the letter was chastising the doc for his enquiry? My daughter said another GP in surgery requested her levels to be checked only to get a similar letter advising her my daughter knew when to get blood tested and they were waiting for it to collapse! The GP was disgusted that my daughter was constantly feeling sick.

Also this is supposed to be a teaching hospital! They don't show addisons patients how to inject but refer them to the addisons site and a brochure from same site what GPs should do. Although GP will show me I am totally disgusted.

Sorry for rant but i'll make sure she gets the blood tests and then follow it up.

Many thanks

You deserve a rant! It's not good enough.

Make sure she gets copies of all the test results. She is entitled to them.

When you have the results, start a new post and more experienced members will advise.

Hi that's disgraceful, could your daughter ask for another endocrinologist to get a second opinion as why should she be kept unwell when they could easily treat her, sounds like the endocrinologist doesn't know much about the thyroid.
