WendyPartridge,

You are adapting to the change from being hyperthyroid to hypothyroid and it's not an easy or quick adjustment.

Post your results and ranges next week and members will advise whether you are optimally dosed. Include any recent results and ranges you have for ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate which are commonly low in thyroid patients.

hi clutter my test results were tsh2.17(00.05) t4 -16 (9 -22) t3 - 3(3-5 ) I have been to doctors today he said my levels are normal ( humm???) but i told him about the hot flushes i keep getting the tremor in my hands, he sat and thought and said it could be a lot of things, such as adrenal ? he asked if it comes and goes I told him it can last two mins or all day, so he decided not thyroid related and gave me hrt ? I feel very hypo some days and very hyper others along with the hot flushes and tremor, not a happy bunny at the moment xxx

Wendypartridge,

I think you are a little undermedicated. Your results are 'normal' insofar they are within range. There is scope to raise T4 and T3 which will reduce TSH and still remain in normal range. A previously hyperthyroid patient is likely to struggle with FT3 at the bottom of range.

The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 0.3 - 1.0 with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org if you would like a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP.

Make sure you take HRT tablets at least 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.
