Although I haven't been diagnosed for hypothyroid, I strongly believe I have it.
I have ticked almost all the boxes in the symptoms list. My mother has had since mid eighties, granma has it due to age and young male cousin was diagnosed in teens while they found out he was type 1 diabetic. So it runs in our family and I have had symptoms for over a decade. But never shown in bloodtests. Sometimes numbers have been bit higher, but according to doctor not enough high to take any actions.
I fell ill with T1 diabetes myself in 2009, but was misdiagnosed with T2 and went without insulin for year and a half.
I have heard hypothyroid is sometimes difficult to detect in bloodtests and it could take years or even decades before it gets caught.
So I was wondering anyone here have had similar experiences and are the bloodtests via private care better than what NHS does?
Thanks

It depends what tests your GP has done. TSH only will confirm or exclude primary hypothyroidism but does not exclude central hypothyroidism. If your GP has only tested TSH it may be worth you order a private thyroid test to include FT4, FT3 and thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin antibodies. You can order private thyroid tests via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin... Medichecks offer #ThyroidThursday discounts.
NHS tests are as trustworthy and accurate as private tests. Some tests are not generally available in primary care ie FT3. thyroglobulin antibodies and rT3 isn't available on NHS so you may need to order privately if you want those tests.
