Still Tired

I've been seeing a thyroid specialist for almost 2 years. I'm on10MCG liothyronine & 50 MCG levothyroxine daily. I still get hoarse, extremely tired & brain fog. How are these 3 problems related, & what can be done about it? I've suffered for many years. I've taken these 2 meds for 9 months now.

I'll jump in here as you've had no reply yet:

Have you any results of recent bloodwork? Post them here to help with the best reply by the more senior members (supply results with ranges line by line). If I'm not wrong your dose of Levo appears to be a "starter" dose when one first starts treatment. Doses are the increased after re-testing bloodwork every 6-8 weeks. It sounds like you are no where near optimal levels! Try to get a hold of other results such as ferritin, Folate, B12, Vit D as they all are critical to the best response to treatment.

Thanks so much for the quick response. For the almost 2 years, I've had blood tests every 6 weeks & my Endocrinoligist changed or added thyroid meds as needed. I will have blood work & see him Monday, July 31. I'll see if I can have the other 4 items included in the blood work. I will let you know when I find out. Just hope this is the blessing I need to get better. Again, my thanks

Book early morning bloodwork and don't forget to fast before testing (water OK) and leave your thyroid meds till after test. This will provide the most accurate results. Create a new post with results (and ranges) to get the best reply here, rather than adding to this older post.

You may want to read "related posts" such as this with similar symptoms. You may find more information worth noting before your next appointment

Rusty64, I did see the Dr yesterday, & all bloodwork was fine. I will have some additional bloodwork done tomorrow, & that should be everything that you thought would help me except 1. Since I have been taking D3 2000 iu for a couple of years, he thinks I should be OK with not running vitamin D. It will a couple of days or so to get results back. When I have all, I will give all that info. Again, much thanks for you help & interest.

Rusty, I typed & sent the reports of my bloodwork, but haven't heard from you. Should I resend it?
