Accessing T3

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 6 years ago and was initially ok on levothyroxine until I started to develop an irregular heartbeat. I was given atenolol ( a beta blocker) which solved the problem but gradually began to get all my hypo symptoms back. My worst problem was aching joints and muscles and an intolerance to exercise. After much battling I managed to persuade my Gp to refer me to a very helpful endocrinologist who advised t3 which I combine with T4 and I am very much better. However I have just been called in to my GP for a medicines review and am concerned my T3 will be stopped.

I am never going back to just T4 so wondered whether anyone can let me know where I can buy it from??

You can say to GP that you have a clinical need for T3 (although I know the heartless guidelines are preventing it from being prescribed) as the Endocrinologist prescribed it and you are much improved and that you are very unwell on levothyroine.

T3 has been difficult to source recently as there seems to be a world-wide shortage but those who have info will send you a Private Message.

The British Thyroid Association have issued guidance that patients who are doing well on T3 should not be taken off it in order to save money. If your GP says T3 is to be withdrawn tell him/her that you do not wish to stop taking it and show him/her the FAQS issued to GPs in british-thyroid-association...
