Non-standard MP response to T3 withdrawal.

Just had a reply form my local MP today,

It reads:

Thank you for taking the time to further contact me regarding your concerns about the NHS proposal to remove Liothyronine from prescription medicine.

I entirely appreciate what you say about the importance of liothyronine to hypothyroid sufferers and the problems they suffer in trying to manage the condition. I understand that many people are affected and they rely on T3 to alleviate their symptoms.

Accordingly, I have written to The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Health, clalling for his comments on the important issued you raise. I enclose a copy of my letter.

I hope that we receive a positive and helpful response shortly, and if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.

The MP has sent my original email and has said "I would be grateful if you will arrange for an urgent review of this matter and let me have your comments as soon as possible to enable me to report to Ms ----.

So, at last a 'non -standard' response.

I await the outcome of this....

Excellent response from your MP, UrsaP, but I fear your MP will get the standard 'Levothyroxine is the preferred therapy' from the Health Dept.

You may be right Clutter but if so I will not rest at that.

It isn't actually rare now for MPs to forward their constituents letters to the relevant department especially if they know that the department will issue you a standard response as it shows they, the MP, have done their job.

I'm sure you are right bluebug I won't be accepting any 'standard' reply.

I think a lot of us are very worried lola1956 and it is not going to be doing any of us any good! Stressing the adrenals and making things worse!

My adrenal are just great on t3 😏

lola1956 Mine usually are too, but low adrenals can affect the uptake of the T3 and leave me feeling a bit rubbish. But at least now I understand that is what is happening and when I get the adrenals up and running again things settle down.

Well done. Let's hope that there is a positive outcome, although shades of 'Yes Minister' pop into my mind.

Oh yes @penny I'm sure and not expecting any great shakes but I will not let it go.

Same action I got from my MP (definitely not a well-known one) when I asked about NDT. Stupid reply I got from the minister to whom he sent the query. You will only get the same sort of stupid answer. I wanted him to ask the question in PMQ's but he didn't have the courage to do it, which was probably indicative of the reason he was still an unknown MP when he was ousted last month.

Currently working on how to approach the new MP to get a proper job done. Based on the success of the attempt to get free abortions in England by Irish women by an amendment to the Queen's speech last month, I have a few ideas ticking over.
