Hi I am on NDT thiroyd from Thailand and have been for 18 months. I feel better than I did on levo but still have a problem with swollen ankles every day. All blood tests have come back clear for causes. I wonder if anyone else has this problem and if they've managed to find a cure? I work full time and it's not a sedentary job. However even when I'm off work it still happens and has done for about 10 years now. Any advice is much appreciated. X

Swollen ankles
For me this mainly seems to be related to t3. When I used to split my dose if my second dose was late one of the first things to happen would be swollen ankles. Are you sure you're on enough? It isn't just about the ndt dose being high enough, you may need to supplement with a little extra t3.
I believe it may be low potassium. You don't get nearly enough from a banana either.
Morning.
I have swollen feet and ankles, getting worse by the day. It's non-pitting which means it's not fluid. Doesn't go down overnight or when I have my feet up.
I recently found out about N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) by searching for myxoedema threads on this forum. Not started trying it yet but intend to soon - I have some other issues I need to sort out first.
Hope you find the right answer for you.
Horse chestnut tablets from Amazon have cured mine, my husbands and my son's swollen ankles. I only take the tablets when needed not all the time.
one doctor told me it was the heat.
another told me it was my blood pressure tablets.
But I was convinced it was Hashimotos.
