Hi, currently on Thiroyd 2 tablets per day, experiencing nerve pain in both ankles, difficulty in walking, both ankles swollen, what with the UK having a mad heatwave doesn't help, drinking water as if it's going out of fashion, any thoughts, advise, many thanks.

Sorry to hear you are suffering. How long have you been medicating NDT ?

Do you have test results complete with ranges (numbers in brackets) so members can comment.

Thank you, I've been on NDT for years. You name it, I've been on it. I've been on Armour, WP Thyroid, Levothyroxine, currently on Thiroyd from Thailand. In fact, just received a letter today from endocrinology explaining high T3, low T4 and inappropriately suppressed TSH, alas, he has no ranges, hence letter sent to my GP and copy to me.

I'm assuming the medics don't know you are taking NDT? Without seeing the results and ranges it's not easy to tell but those sort of results I would expect. Glad you have asked to see the actual figures and ranges. Please repost when you get them as it will be a lot easier to comment then.

The medics do know that I am on NDT. With these results, it seems I'm hyper instead of hypo, looking at my weight and symptoms, should be the latter, just seems I can't get to a normal, regulated state and this has been the case for so many years! Any thoughts on Armour thyroid as I seemed to do well on that before they reformulated it.

From your further comment they may know but notcdure they know to read the results differently if they are suggesting you are over medicated. But seeing your results will solve that query. If you are correctly medicated your TSH should be suppressed, FT4 can fall in its range but FT3 should be high in its range but never over.

Hi Spacenk Try dropping 1/2 grain or 30mg NDT per day and see if you feel better. You need less NDT in summer than winter. If going down doesn't help after a few days try going up for a few days. If you heart pounds a little too much when you are in bed youv'e gone too far up. If nothing works you can always just go back to the current 2 tablets per day. Tablets can be broken in half between your front teeth and capsules can be pulled apart the power split. I always chew NDT and then wash down with water, stops heart burn. Normally joint pain is not enough Thyroid (Levo or NDT) and Excess Thirst is too much Thyroid (Levo or NDT) . Good luck

How long have you had the swollen ankles? Have the doctors checked for heart or kidney disease? You are saying “nerve pain”... how did you know it’s “nerve” and not other pain?
