T3 availability on NHS in Sheffield update

I've seen my Endo at Hallamshire Hospital today who informed me that in addition to towns in South Yorkshire the NHS is now "red lighting" Sheffield so no one will be able to get T3 at all on the NHS in this region.

He also commented how many of his patients are struggling sourcing T3. I was dreading my appointment today but he surprised me with his openness to the issues we face. He stated that he'd even looked at trying to source it on private prescription from countries such as Germany and France to help patients and keep costs down but with no success.

He has now removed my levo and put me on T3 twice daily (as long as I can source it) exactly what I wanted to do. He's also requested a barium for me. Can anyone advise me as to what to expect as I've not had one before thanks

But I thought that a private prescription could be used abroad?

Seriously - it's an easy one to sort. You go online to a pharmacy that will sell you T3 but only upon production of a private prescription and ask them specifically what needs to be in the private prescription.

I think what he was trying to say was that he was trying to source it cheaper for patients using a private prescription well that was my understanding. But it's cheaper for us to buy it from companies online without a prescription but obviously we don't have the protection doing this off our own backs rather than with the help of our Endo's.

Ah yes but if he provides the private prescription then people likely would be able to use this prescription to buy from places such as pharmacies in France and Germany

There was a thread about obtaining prescriptions in the UK and using them to obtain T-3 in e.g. Germany about a month ago. I think one of the administrators posted it.

Just unbelievable we can't get T3 on the NHS where I'd be bed ridden without it :((
