Hi there
there are many more natural ways to decrease as well and will prob help more if not being caused by anxiety. High cortisol will elevate in response to any psychological stress but also any physiological stresses on the body.
So things like low calories and nutritional deficiencies will cause stresses to the body, makes blood glucose levels unstable and then cortisol will also raise. Eating healthily, regularly, correcting any deficiencies and changing a few things to stablise blood sugars will help lower cortisol. Basically if you don't eat enough, to get energy to keep you going your body will start to convert additional glucose from liver stores which fluctuates cortisol but also once you run out will run off the adrenals - you need energy from somewhere if not getting it from food. But typically, high cortisol will also raise blood sugar levels tut!
Insuffient amounts of sleep everyday will also stress the body although typically again high cortisol at night also stops you from sleeping tut tut!!!
Avoiding things like caffeine and some other stuff too but you can have a quick google for lots of lists but basically anything that stresses your system. Making sure you get everything you need from diet including water will help. As will removing any food you are intolerant to or any that has an inflammatory affect on you. For example. many of us find a gluten free diet removes inflammation. Sugar is also inflammatory as any other weird intolerances you might have.
Over exposure to steroid type meds will also cause issues.
Taking more regular exercise will help
Also read the other day that tsh over 2 or 2.5 is highly related to high cortisol levels so making sure under 2 - preferably 1 is good anyway.
I would carefully research anything you might take supplement wise and make sure is okay as some can have adverse effects on other issues.
Plus where cortisol is a stress hormone, you now have a great excuse to whomever is concerned that you now must take more time for yourself and maybe get a massage lol
I do have bad health anxiety so probably caused by that
Was it a blood test or saliva test you did - is there a chance that the test would have caused you to get more anxious?
Has the doc said you have health anxiety or do you know you worry a little too much than you should?
no i have bad health anxiety, wish i could stop it but it takes over, say if one of the kids get ill i think the worst case. been like it since my mum died young (46 and hospital fault) blood tests dont bother me so actually wasnt going through a anxious time, i thought i was pretty relaxed for me lol :/ last level was ""Cortisol 615 elevated (133-537) ""
Having another blood test Tuesday. Cortisol is on the form again. So will see if level is still high. But I just don't get how I can lower it
prolactin now high its up at 2000
