What to do next?

I have recently stopped (3weeks ago) all my supplements to try and see if any was causing night time palpitations.

The palpitations did calm down until Saturday night but that also corresponds with my luteal phase, so I'm not sure what's causing what.

However I did start on 1/4 of a grain twice daily from last Tuesday but I am swelling up, my tummy, my face my arms and legs and even my eyeballs! I have already put on 4st even though I've given up most things including gluten (4 years ago) the doctor has prescribed antibiotic drops for my eyes but I think it's all down to my thyroid, my face looks so puffy.

At a loss and feel like every time I try to get better I face another problem.

Do I still increase doses or stop? Last year I was on 2 grains but stopped due to palpitations at night. I had no other symptoms of over medication whilst on 2grains but then I didn't feel too much better either.

Would love to here any comments, apologies if I have repeated from previous post I have a memory of a goldfish at the moment.

Palpitations can also be a symptom of under-medication.

Yes I think I've read that too, since stopping all my supplement my TSH on my last result has gone to 3.5 which has suppressed me although I've got a funny feeling it may be the kelp that was causing a problem.

I'm also beginning to think there is something in NDT that doesn't agree with me.

What do you mean, 'suppressed' you?

Taking kelp really isn't a good idea. Excess iodine does more harm than good, and you will already be getting iodine from your thyroid hormone replacement. It probably was the kelp causing the problem!

And, it's perfectly possible that NDT doesn't agree with you - it doesn't agree with everyone. Perhaps it's time to try something else.

Yes I think that the kelp was part of the problem. I have some T3 that I purchasd last year but I'm just a bit worried about starting it.

I think I need to give it a go and see what happens.

What worries you about it?

I worry that I could cause a problem with my heart or make the palpitations worse. I also worry about the state of my health in general, I don't think my doctors help the situation, its almost like they will treat me for anything but thyroid problems, so rather than looking for the root cause they would prefer to treat other symptoms which then increases my anxiety about my health. I do believe if I could get my thyroid stable and working correctly I don't think I would have half the problems like breathlessness, swelling, muscle and joint pain and I think I could have a sensible diet and loose weight. I just need to get there and perhaps T3 is the answer.
