Hi

Looking for some help with interpretation of my recent private bloody tests in my quest to find out what the heck is wrong with me. Would anyone be so kind as to help me understand my results?

H 6.37 range 0.8- 4.5

hi duff, i can't help you much, but i say your thyroid function test looks fine to me, nothing else, except some of the cortisol results are in red. there is a search function on top of the website and i just put in cortisol and up came a lot of entries, maybe you can find your answers by reading through some of them. sorry i can't be of much help. all the best xo

How long did you have the blood test after your last dose of thyroid meds?

Also, I'm having the same issues with high cortisol which starts in the evening and gets too high over night causing me to not sleep very well. Blood glucose levels can effect cortisol and low calories/nutrition although I've already ruled out this in myself as sugar levels are stable but you might want to check this out too and maybe get a cheap testing pack from pharmacy to check your glucose levels. Still looking into this I'm afraid. You could have further tests to see if any other possible adrenal issues. Addisons is low so wont be that but things like cushings and high levels aldosterone can cause high cortisol. There are also many other simple things that can help lower - like caffeine etc but have a google and you will see loads of stuff on this. Does indicate that your adrenals are under pressure which can impact thyroid function.

Ferritin is optimal a little higher than this but i actually wouldn't want to say as ferritin can be very misleading without a full blood count.

Also testing B12, folate and Vit D is recommended.

Don't know much about sex hormones - LH/FSH seem fine but does depend on what part of you cycle you are on as fluctuate.

Oestradial is the same so again depends on which part of cycle and then look at the levels indicated on the side to check against.

You are not indicating autoimmune thyroid disease as antibodies aren't raised although doesn't rule it out :-)

Just reminded myself of your last post. Yes, you're not on thyroid meds are you? This means results although not perfectly optimal, are okay and with no antibodies, unlikely to be thyroid even though other things may cause it to not be so great.

You mentioned anxiety - this will cause high cortisol but high cortisol can also cause anxiety. High cortisol will cause the symptoms you're having so this is the likely problem - or sugar levels/diet/calories etc so looking more into this area would be useful.

With the suspected coeliacs, you do need to make sure all nutritional levels are up to scratch because if deficient before, its very hard to get levels up naturally so all should have been medicated enough to get to better levels.
