Hi can anyone help with results, after two abnormal TSH thryroid results as per doctor last one being ths 0.28 the doctor put up me up to 150mg Levothyroxine two weeks ago. Haven been on 125mg around 12 years. Also have low B12 which been having 12 weekly injections for since January current reading 223 which the say is adequate

Went on Tuesday to Doc as fed up with aching muscles (all of them) struggle to get up from chair etc I'm 51 no energy getting breathless.

Question is what the hell is going on one doc put up thyroxine, have now had call to say need to go in overmedicated? Which doctor is right? my reading from Tuesday is 0.10 TSH never tell me any others T4 OR T3 just getting any results of reception is like getting blood out of a stone just keep saying is normal etc.

Any thoughts greatly received before i go to appointment tomorrow, just dont want to roll over when feeling so bad.

Welcome to the forum.

TSH : 0.28 (I assume this is below range)

With a TSH that low it's difficult to understand why any doctor would increase your dose of Levo.

New TSH level: 0.10 - how long after your dose increase was this new test done? Obviously the dose increase has done exactly what we all know it would do, and that is to lower your TSH.

**

B12: 223 after 12 injections. What was it before the injections? It is still way too low.

What is your folate level?

Do you have any signs and symptoms of B12 Deficiency - check here

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

If you do then I believe injections should continue until they disappear.

You would be better off discussing your B12 over on the Pernicious Anaemia Society forum here on Health Unlocked

healthunlocked.com/pasoc

Aching muscles, breathlessness - what are your other nutrient levels ie

Vit D

Ferritin

As your B12 was low enough to need injections, there's a good chance these could be low as well.

"never tell me any others T4 OR T3 just getting any results of reception is like getting blood out of a stone just keep saying is normal etc."

If FT4 and FT3 have been tested then you need to see your results. Ask for a print out. If the receptionist says they are normal then you reply

"But I would like a print out please"

If she still fobs you off you say

"I know it is my legal entitlement under the Data Protection Act 1998 to have a copy of my results. I'm sure no-one here would wish to break the law so please arrange for a print out to be ready for me to pick up tomorrow by XX time."

Don't allow them to continue fobbing you off.

You need the references ranges with your test results so they should look something like

TSH: 0.10 (0.27-4.20)

You may have to pay a small amount for the print out but it should only be enough to cover paper and ink, they are not allowed to use it as a revenue stream.

Get as many past results as you can in addition to your current ones, then come back and make a new thread.

Thanks for the reply, will ask for a printout tomorrow range is 0.30-4.5 For TSH

B12 was 78! folate has come back as 6.7 not sure what the range is didnt tell me. Not had Vitamin D or Ferritin checked unless its included in fbc which was done in January

Many thanks

So at 0.28 your TSH was under range and the doctor who raised your dose of Levo hasn't a clue what he's doing.

My cousin had a B12 result very similar to yours, she has been diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia, has had the loading injections and is now on 3 monthly injections for life.

Please go to the PA forum as suggested to discuss this because again I don't think your doctor has much idea.

**

Can't comment about folate without a range.

Neither Vit D nor Ferritin are included in a full blood count.

The full blood count will actually show if you have any form of anaemia so post those results too.
