Hi I'm Roz been suffering with thyroid problems since 2004 overactive twice had graves and also caused my heart to go into ATF each time so after two cardio versions and a very high dose of radio active iodine was left on 150 levothyroxine, since moving to Somerset near Taunton my new doctor has reduced mo dose to 75 leaving me feeling ill, I have a medication review tomorrow and he said I don't need a blood test before it I asked how can he review my meds without one as I haven't had a blood test for a year now, but apparently he can, the last time he reduced my thyroxine I said please don't apart from anything else I will put on more weight he said yes probably.

I don't know what to do now.

Ask to be referred to a Endocrynologist who specialises in Thyroid NOT Diabetes!! Look up your local hospital Endo dept. Find consultant names and look them up by name on line to check!!

Hi I think you need to find a new gp if you can as this one is negligent in the extreme, how can he/she possibly know what dose of levo you should be on without doing a bloodtest. you could get a private bloodtest and then post on here for advise that's what alot of us do. You need your t4/t3 to be in top quarter/third of range and tsh to be 1.0 or less that's where most of us feel well.if you email Louise.roberts@ thyroiduk.org.uk and get the pulse magazine article by dr toft it basically says this in answer to question6 in article and show it to your gp this worked for me it got me an increase in my meds dr toft is an eminent endo and was past president of British thyroid association so knows what he's talking about so gp should take notice, it's definitely worth a try.

Hi thank you for responding, I did see my doctor yesterday and explained my current symptoms heat sweats brain fog fatigue etc he said oh I think you are being over medicated with your thyroxine,I had to push him to agree to do a blood test before reducing it any more, I am having the blood test done tomorrow so it will be next week when I get my results which I will ask to see then post them on here fingers crossed

TSH 5.68

Free T4 10.5

Free T3 4.5

The doctor has increased my thyroxine from 75 to 100 after questioning me as to weather I take my medication daily and if I have been taking the correct amount...... YES

Another blood test in 8 weeks
