Welcome to the forum, JakJenLew.

It's a bit of a myth that all hyperthyroid patients lose weight. I'm not sure whether weight gain may sometimes be due to Carbimazole slowing metabolism or simply the slowed metabolism means you have to reduce the amount of food you are eating.

I've always been the same weight I'm finding it hard on 50mg carbimazole and the moment my thyroid has went into toxicity so I'm overactive at the moment does the carbimazole make you underactive as this all began after I had 3 heart attacks one with stent and a TIA

JakJenLew,

If you are taking too much Carbimazole it can make you under active so you should have regular thyroid blood tests.
