Driving me insane

Hi all

Sorry for this post but I have no where else to turn to and becoming soooo frustrated

I have had a dry cough now with a tickle in my throat that sometimes actually causes my eyes to water since January this year, originally I have had this before last year 2016 January but seemed to disappear slightly. My throat part of where the collar bones gap is but slightly higher get gets extremely tight and I then develop what I can only describe as a blocked sound coming from my throat! The cough wakes me at night as it feels like ants crawling round my throat!

I have had 2 chest xray's - clear

ENT - clear camera down the nose

Camera down to my stomach - clear

Dr has put me on steroid nasal spray, reflux ppi (high dose) and inhaler - when the wheeze starts I use the inhaler and it seems to disappear yet the tight feeling in my throat persists. When I breathe in my throat scratches.....it is driving me in sane!

Can any thyroid condition cause this silly cough and scratch? I had my thyroid checked probably April 2016 and the blood tests showed normal....

Anyone who has suffered the same please give me some advise?

Thank you all x

Gluten sensitivity can cause a cough. I had one for over 6 months which disappeared a few days after quitting gluten. It comes back straight away/next day if I inadvertently eat any. Sounds like an allergy of some description to me. Don't get me started on PPIs.......Why are you taking them?

Thanks for your reply. Dr thinks its reflux causing the cough so has me on 60mg of lansoprazole a day!

How long have you been on it? Seen any relief? GP put my daughter on PPIs for stomach pain. Turns out she had LOW stomach acid. Half a lemon juice in water cured her pain. Always best to work out the root cause. If it's reflux then why do you have it?

Hi there sorry for the delay in responding! I was in emergency last night with a swelling on my left leg, they took loads of bloods and all is normal, they reckon it is fluid retention. I am not sure what is causing this cough but the PPI's are definitely not helping me as I am still waking myself up coughing....BOO......I am back at the Dr next week Tuesday and see what else they can do for me.

They don't have any answers. Start doing what you can yourself? I'd still guess allergy.
