So since I last posted - auto immune thyroiditis but thyroid function fine apparently - I have had an ultrasound on my lump on my throat (goitre was assumed). It showed it to be 4cm x 2 x 2.8. It is heterogeneous and have said there are vessels in it too. They did the fine needle aspiration twice but the results weren't clear so I now have an appointment with an ENT consultant. My doctor rung to say that I am on the rush list as they want to rule out cancer so my appointment in on the 3rd. He said they want to talk about how they can diagnose it or possibly removing it.
Questions - how else can they diagnose it?
What if they do want to remove it? A friend has given me her account of removal but I'm interested in more accounts - recovery, time etc.
Any other information about this type of lump/nodule?
Thanks in advance

Hi . I had the same as you in March this year . Mine was the size of a creme egg. . In the space of 6 weeks had the test saw a consultant and has the right side of my thyroid remove . My results can back all clear , so because they can not determine if it's cancer they remove and do a full test . Mine was check after the op as was benign . I had 3 weeks off work (went back to work 22 may ) . At the moment my thyroid is working will so not on any other mediation other than vitamin d . My scar looks really good and will fade to nothing in a year .
Hope all goes well . If you have any questions let me know
Hey, Thank you so much - it's good to hear your story. That was a really quick process! How long were you in hospital for? Has it affected your speak at all?x
I was in for 2 days but that was due to my blood pressure being too low . Voice unfortunately for hubby and daughter has not been effected . I can still shout at them , much to their dismay .
It is . Still a bit numb and a bit swollen but not really noticeable to anyone but me .That picture was 7 days post op just a red line now . Not many are cancer . I felt so much better after have it removed as it was effecting my voice and swallowing as my nodule was pressing in it . I know it's hard but try not to worry too much . What every they find either way they can deal with . I like my scar it it a reminder of how precious life is and to enjoy it .
