If helps (I think), if you have TPO antibodies, it means your body has decided not to like your thyroid or maybe doesn't recognise it as being you and wants to shut it down and these antibodies then go and attack your thyroid causing damage and making it increasingly unable to function. In the same way your body will raise antibodies against a virus it doesn't like. That is why it's autoimmune which means your body is attacking itself.

I think the thyroglobulin antibodies are caused from a substance called thyroglobulin leaking into your blood maybe from damage to thyroid cells and it's not supposed to be in your blood and so antibodies are raised against it.

Don't know much about the other graves antibodies to be honest!

Don't quote me on that though lol :-D

Thyroid antibodies show Hashimotos Thyroditis which is auto immune and very common.

Hashimoto’s disease, also called chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis or autoimmune thyroiditis, is an autoimmune disease. An autoimmune disease is a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the body’s own cells and organs. Normally, the immune system protects the body from infection by identifying and destroying bacteria, viruses, and other potentially harmful foreign substances.

In Hashimoto’s disease, the immune system attacks the thyroid gland, causing inflammation and interfering with its ability to produce thyroid hormones. Large numbers of white blood cells called lymphocytes accumulate in the thyroid. Lymphocytes make the antibodies that start the autoimmune process.

It leads to reduced thyroid function, or hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is a disorder that occurs when the thyroid doesn’t make enough thyroid hormone for the body’s needs. Thyroid hormones regulate metabolism—the way the body uses energy—and affect nearly every organ in the body. Without enough thyroid hormone, many of the body’s functions slow down.

Recommendation is going gluten and casein free (cows milk)

Gluten and Casein look like the thyroid to the body (molecular mimmickry) so when ingested and they get in to your bloodstream via leaky gut(intestinal permeability) the body sees an invader so sends T cells out to attack but then mistakenly also attacks the thyroid.

In a past post I've listed all the things that I find have helped me, may be worth a look.

Research leaky gut. Chris Kresser website is good for this.

Izabella Wentz Hashimotos Protocol book is good she also has a website.

Dr Datis Khazzarian also has brilliant books also a website.

Dr Susan Blum md The Auto Immune Recovery Plan is good for diet info.

Check Folate , Ferritin, B12 and Vit D as some if not all may be low as runs hand in hand.

FYI B12 should be 600 plus under 500 will start to cause neurological changes.

Vit D around 60 no less

Folate and Ferritin mid range.

Your Dr will say ok at much lower levels as they don't want to supplement people as very costly!

Just as an additional, these can be in the 1000s, as mine are, but that doesn't mean you get any treatment necessarily.... As in my case.

Same here, over 1300 which is the lab max anyway. GP just said "it's a virus", and am left to get on with it!!

Just high Thyroglobulin antibodies can be due to other issues, e.g. Urticaria, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus etc Or some people may have raised TG antibodies for no obvious reason.

Raised TPO is always due to Hashimoto's, autoimmune thyroid disease.

Leaky gut and food intolerances are linked to Hashimoto's

Ahhhh. That's really interesting as I seem to struggle with food I never used to! I am Gluten Free, but nuts make me itchy, can't have oats at all, don't drink alcohol as it makes me feel really ill with just half a glass, and things like strawberries.... Just can't eat them! (Have had allergy tests so just intolerance) Is there any evidence around medication intolerance and hashi? I struggle with that too! 😁
