Above range T3.

Hello. I can't seem to find the answer to this. If you have time to see my early posts and blood results you will see my T3 is above range NATURALLY, no meds but many thyroid type symptoms that doc now changed his diagnosis from poss hypo on blood form to tell me he thinks I have chronic fatigue syndrome. The only thing that is different is having my mirena coil replacement in December 2016. I know many of you are trying to raise your levels of T3 and wonder why I am complaining, I don't feel good and haven't really for some time. Anxiety is ruining my enjoyment in life in general and weight gain knocks the little confidence I had in myself plus joint/muscle pain, cold/heat intolerance, palpitations etc. Guessing I may be very much in the minority. Any info gratefully received.

T3 7.5 (range 3.5 - 6.2)

Have you not had your FT3 retested since then? It was two months ago. I think, if it were me, I would want an immediate retest! That FT3 just does not hang with the other two results.

Do not, whatever you do, accept a 'diagnosis' of CFS. For a start, it's not a disease, it's a syndrome, and you can't 'diagnose' a syndrome! But, it's also a dustbin diagnosis. Once you are consigned to it, they will never do anything for you, ever again. Whatever you complain of, they will just say oh, it's the CFS, nothing we can do about it, take these antidepressants... And, your doctor is only saying that because he's totally out of his depth with that high reading. But, instead of researching and trying to find the reason, he's taking the lazy-bum way out, and telling you you have a condition with no blood test to prove it, no treatment, and no cure. How easy for him is that! Don't let him do it!

Anxiety is a hypo symptom, but if your FT3 is really that high, it could be the T3 causing it. Have you had your antibodies tested? Do you take biotin? Sorry if you've already answered those questions on your other thread, but...

Oh, and by the way, I would want my FT3 retested in a different lab! Just in case there's some form of contamination.

grey goose. Can't thank you enough for your reply and your view. I was afraid to ask for more tests as my doc requested a barrage of them in the first place. I will however put my big girl pants on (in both senses of the words) and ask for FT3 retest and antibodies as you suggest. As for changing labs, not sure I can manage that, unless he actually refers me, then I can go private. I don't take biotin. Should I consider it?Have to say I know nothing about it. Chronic fatigue syndrome didn't sit right with me from the start. Thank again.

No, I didn't mean you should take biotin, but if you do take it, it seems it can skew results. And, that certainly looks like a skewed result!

But, could you not just get the FT3 tested privately? No need to go to the expense of a private endo. You can do that with Blue Horizon.

Ok, understand now re biotin.

Will look into Blue Horizon. Thank you greygoose.

Biotin is often in nultivits andcu ybderstand that if that is the case stop taking it a few days before testing. Also seen it is in some hair and nail products.

Hello. I stopped taking multi-vitamins a few years ago as I found no benefit from them. I only take single vit/minerals that I research for own health. But worth bearing in mind that biotin can be in shampoo etc. Thanks.
