Thyroid tests
Hi, You need to get a copy of your test results WITH ranges from the doctor. If you do this asap then you should be able to get them free. It is your right to have your test results under the Data Protection Act 1998 and you only need to state if you want them, you want them for your own records.
Once you get the results with ranges post them in a new thread for comments.
Did you have the blood test at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water). If not request another test as the results wont be true. Usually they only test TSH and T4 but it gives a bigger picture if they test TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and antibodies. GP may not but he should TSH, T4, T3 and thyroid antibodies.
Thanks. Do I just say antibodies to my GP. Will she understand the ask or do I need to be more specific
I assume she will realise if you're also getting other blood tests, i.e. T3, T4 etc but I would still say thyroid antibodies. They may have already been tested. I had never thought of asking before for copies of my results. I don't think many do, unless they are now on this forum I have been hypo for about ten years now (probably more as I was undiagnosed until then). I only found out recently I had antibodies. Also before the forum there wasn't many ways you could find out about our conditions as it is all very strange at first
