Thyroid Tests

Can anyone please advise me when I should take my last T3 pill before getting re-tested?

I usually take my last pill around 6pm the evening before. Is this ok?

I have also just paid for a private advanced thyroid test with medichecks as currently having hassles with my GP getting more tests just now. It's really getting me down. I can't deal with the added stress despite my endo requesting these tests by my GP.

I am still not on the right dose as still struggling with energy and brain fog but endo won't increase my T3 as my TSH is 0.02. I get conflicting advice, ignore the TSH and increase meds if you still feel awful. However, then I am advised by endo it is dangerous to ignore very low TSH.

I feel I am going round in circles... :-(

T3 should be split the day before the test, into two or three doses whichever is practical with the total dose you take. You should do this even if you normally take your T3 all in one dose. Then last part of the day's dose should be 8-12 hours before the time of your test.

Thank you!! I usually split it into 4 doses throughout the day.

Important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 too if not tested recently

Remember to stop taking any supplements that contain biotin a week before blood test

Beware of postal strikes at moment

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning

My private test will include Vit D, 12, folate and ferritin too :-)

That's interesting about biotin! I didn't realise. Thank you!

Yeah, I'll need to keep up with the postal strikes so my sample isn't sitting around

too long before the lab receives it.

Thank you! It will be good to compare with my NHS blood test when I do get one!
