Cathy, we have usually to wait for six weeks when getting our first blood test after taking levothyroxine but you have to wait for four.

It is because levothyroxine takes quite some time to build up in your body, so doctor wants a test so that he can see how your body is doing.

Always get a print-out from the surgery (we are entitled to have them) and post them with the ranges (figures in brackets) on a new post for comments. Just concentrate on taking levo first thing with one full glass of water and wait 1 hour before eating. Also remember to get the earliest appointment etc. etc.

Hi cathy, I see you have quite a few posts for Fibromyalgia but your thyroid TSH is very high. No wonder you are in pain. I didn't notice antibody tests, which were high? If you have antibodies you have Hashimoto's which is an autoimmune condition which usually begins with stomach inflammation. That interferes with all your digestive functions which brings a whole slew of problems. If you have been this way for a while you are probably deficient in so many nutrients of which there are 90; 60 minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 amino acids and 2 fatty acids. Those minerals need lots of acid to disseminate so start taking either vinegar or HCL with meals.

I think you should try to get some hormone therapy for your thyroid. Vitamin D supplement maintenance is about 4,000 i.u. per day but you can take more every few days if you would rather.

You need to look at adrenals as well.

You could try 200 mcgs. of Selenium which helps with antibodies. I think thyroid hormone would also help. I will never understand why doctors allow patients to go so far beyond a TSH of 01.00 before treatment. Unless you take major steps as shown in the video above, you are only going to have more symptoms and your TSH will go even higher. If you are in the UK, some will not prescribe until you reach a TSH of 10. Ask your current GP what the magic number is and then considering obtaining an NDT or T4 by yourself.
