Goridawjee,

Many of us become more aware of our heartbeat at night. It is very common to become more aware of it when lying on the left side. I was particularly aware of heartbeat and palpitations when I lay flat on my back. It felt as though they were reverberating through the mattress and I was more comfortable lying on my right side and slightly elevated.

Thank you for that info. Have tried sleeping in different positions. And sometimes it stops. So will pay more attention and see if it helps.

Goridawjee,

The trick is to pay less attention and try to distract yourself from listening to your heartbeat.

With regard to 'normal' for thyroid hormone and you have symptoms - I'll give you a link and tick off your symptoms.

Never mind 'normal' with regard to last year's results. Make an appointment to have a new one, at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and if you were taking thyroid hormones allow a gap of 24 hours between dose and test and take afterwards.

Ask GP for TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. Get a print-out with the ranges and post for comments. Also B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.

The lab might not do all of these - most probably the frees - but you can get them privately as FT4 and FT3 are more important than the others except doctors seem to be unaware of this.

My heart playing up was a symptom I had often and we don't know the reason. I do now and it is usually due to low thyroid hormones and brain and heart need the most so it might be why you are sensitive to your heart beats at present.
