It really depends on whether you need to swap over to T3 completely or add it in combination with your Levo. Your blood tests should help guide you, they will show if you have poor conversion or dire conversion. In any case it's usual to start low and increase gradually.
What are your latest results for FT4 and FT3 that showed the need for T3, they will help with knowing if you need to reduce your Levo dose as well.
Welcome to the forum, Croc345.
Can you post your recent thyroid results and ranges please? Also, let us know if you intend to take T3 + Levothyroxine or whether you are switching to T3 only.
Hi..I'm seeing endocrinology doc next week..hopefully he will help..I've got all problems that reverse t3 does....im washed out..no energy..feeling low..permanent headache. .aching bones..hair loss..tiredness after a nights sleep...can't face anyone..I've bought t3..but not going to use until I get the right advise...I take 125 mcg of T4. ..and I've put on loads of weight...croc
Croc345,
It sounds like you may be under medicated. Ask your endocrinologist for your results and ranges. Take a pen and paper in case endo can't do a printout. Post the results and ranges in a new question and members will advise.
Hypothyroid patients are often low/deficient in ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate so it may be worth asking your endo or GP to do blood tests. Hair loss can be due to low ferritin/iron or low zinc and bone pain can be due to low vitD.
I hope the endocrinologist is sensitive and knowledgeable.
If you've not had a recent blood test ask GP to do so before your appointment with the Endo and you can get advice prior to your visit, i.e. TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.
If you can afford a private test, I'll give you a link below - just in case. They also do home tests:
