Quite an interesting but basic article

Let's hope it includes new much needed drugs/hormone therapy for thyroid disorders

My cynical side suggests a future in which pharmaceutical companies have products such as are described in the article, they work well and they are generally safe. But the doctors don't know enough about them to prescribe. That is, GPs know next to nothing, some consultants know more but getting a consultant appointment is next to impossible and the GP still won't prescribe even if recommended. And the price is so high that doctors are effectively prohibited from prescribing. (Even if they are acceptably priced when launched, some companies will ramp the price up to intolerable levels.)

Getting a strange sense of deja vu... Mercury Pharma?

This seems especially likely if “there’s a big need for new medicines” means there is a big need to many new medicines.

Add onto that the 17 years from research to practice and delays due to development of a practical medicine from a research finding.

Well worth posting. :-)
