Symptoms of vitamin d low
Hidden What makes you think your Vit D is low?
You can get it tested and see what your level is and supplement if necessary. If your GP won't test it then you can do a home fingerprick blood spot test from City Assays for £28 vitamindtest.org.uk/index.html
Had a bout of low vit d about 12 months ago and had similar symptoms, muscle aches in arms and thighs, tiredness etc... thought it was my thyroxine dose at first but not that its been reduced but still feeling rubbish. more bloods taken yesterday so wait and see time. thanks for your reply Alice
Come back and tell us the results.
Vit D Deficiency needs treating and when the recommended level is reached - 100-150nmol/L - then a maintenance dose for life is necessary with retesting once or twice a year to keep within the recommended range.
Also, there are important cofactors needed when supplementing with D3. If you are low in Vit D again suggestions can be made for supplements and cofactors.
I will come back and tell you the result, I think that you are right and that there should have been some maintenance of the level. I know that the number given at the previous time was 18 and I was overdosed at the rate of 3200 per day for eight weeks with three tests. I was told that between 50 and 100 was normal and I was on 52 at the end of the time so thought all was fine. I am also being tested for polymyalgia think that's what its called I know that it can be controlled with steroids really don't want that so holding out for the vit d. Thanks for the input. Alice
