I was hyperthyroid, then after Neocarbazole went just under, niw the endo says i am slightly overactive again and i should take 1 neocarbazole 5 mg daily. I seem to have more hypo symptoms though.... cold, tired, dizzy, no get up and go....

Here are my latest blood results....

T4 frei 11.5 ref 6.8 -18.00

TSH ( 3.15) 0.066 ref 0.25 - 4

Would really appreciate your feed back.

Thanks

Leener71,

Is TSH 3.15 or 0.066?

Do you know what your Free T3 is?

Tsh is 0.066 . Dont know what that is in brackets but its like that on the result sheet.

No i only have these two results, they didnt test anything else.

Thanks Clutter

Leener17,

TSH 0.066 is suppressed but your FT4 is less than halfway through range so I don't think you are hyperthyroid. I would order a private thyroid test to check FT3 level in addition to FT4. Unless FT3 is over range I don't think I would want to take 5mg as it will make FT4 drop further.

Thanks Clutter. May i still ask you a wuestion. What happens if the FT4 goes further down?

I live in Switzerland and have no idea about private testing. Will need to look into that.

Glad that you agree with my gut feeling. I have already only been taking the 5 mg every other day!

Another question.... does it matter when you take the carbamazole?? (Time, meals etc. )

Thanks

Leener71,

FT4 will go down now you are taking Carbimazole. If you already feel hypothyroid it is likely to become worse as FT4 drops.

I don't think it matters when you take it.

Thanks Clutter, have decided not to take it anymore for the moment. I have to be tested again mid June.

As I have a goitre growing inwards I am on the way towards a total thyroidectomy, which I am not keen on at all! Waiting to have lung capacity test done.

Leener71,

I had a hemithyroidectomy and completion thyroidectomy 3 months later. I had very little pain post op and recovered well from the surgery. I later had probelems with Levothyroxine but I'm well on Levothyroxine + T3 now. Some retrosternal goitres are removed in pieces so the surgery may not be too radical or invasive.

Oh that is good to hear. The surgery isnt my biggest worry really, its the aftermath of getting the levo right etc. I sppose you self medicated the T3? Good to hear that you feel fine now.

Leener71,

I did selfmedicate the T3 for a few months then endo agreed it was good for me and prescribed it.
