I've had regular flares of thyroiditis and there was nothing I could do but ride it it and rest. My Endo saw me every time and I had ultrasounds which confirmed thyroiditis flare but my treatment did not change.

I believe this was because I was not converting well on my levothyroxine. My Endo agreed I wasn't converting from having a high FT4 and low FT3. But I couldn't get T3 on prescription. So I bought it myself and my Endo agreed to monitor me so I'm now on T3 / T4 combo and not had any flares.

What medication are you on? And what are your latest blood results i.e. TSH, FT3 & FT4?

Thanks tsh was 3.9 rose to 8 on HRT and T4 always in mid range now upper range at 19

I have high tpo in 600s. When diagnosed tsh was 30 but T4 normal should I have been treated I was in acute viral illness at the time

Thank you

No wonder your having flares it's not under control at all! What's your FT3 are you converting? Do you cut out gluten and grains? How is your stomach do you have any problems? Until you get all this under control you'll keep getting flares which is a terrible cycle to be in

I will post as soon as I get recent results. Did get tsh down to 3 bit then started on HRT which raised it!!! Feels like I'm going around in circles

Thank you

Ketogenic diet is noted to be highly anti-inflammatory. Also Kefir and Turmeric can be helpful.

Get levels checked for vitamin D, folate, ferritin & B12 too. Very common with Hashimoto's to have poor gut function & low vitamins

With Hashimoto's very many of us find going strictly gluten free gives significant benefits & can lower TPO antibodies too

A good probiotic can help heal gut too

HRT Seems to interfere with Levo
