My weight is really getting me down. I eat healthy and walk daily but over the last 18 months I have gained nearly 2 stone. Got appointment at hospital 21st June so hoping for answers.

GP said I am over treated so dropped meds to 125 -feeling tired and skin very dry 😥

Susanyoungcasper1,

As advised on your previous post, members really need to see your thyroid results and ranges in order to advise. Ask your GP receptionist for your most recent results and ranges and post them in a new question for advice.

Do you have a copy of your results? You should always get one because you can't trust your doctor to always know about thyroid. You need to know exactly what was tested, and exactly what the results was, because if he is only testing the TSH, he has no idea if you're over-medicated.

You also need to know if you are converting your levo (T4) into T3. And, you can only know that if you test the FT4 and the FT3 (at the same time) and compare them. So, get a copy or your results, and post them here, with ranges. :)

My daughter has just being treated for Thyroid after 8 years undiagnosed, her weight is going up she is so down about it too, she is considering taking T3.

I gained 5 stone whilst on levo and the likelihood is that I would have gained even more if I had stayed on it as per the doctors' instructions. I was unable to do anything about it, just as you seem to be. This is a very common problem whilst on levo alone and you need to investigate what alternatives are available and which best suits your condition. A change of dose of T4 is one possibility, T3 is another, NDT is another, a change of diet is yet another.

Do as others ask and post your blood results and perhaps an answer may be available to your problem.

Thank you for info. I will definitely post my results later this month when I go to gp after blood tests. Starting to feel a bit more positive about things after reading post's and will definitely self medicate if I have to. My diet is very healthy but plan to look at glutton free if needed 😊
