Weight gain

Over the past 4-6 weeks I feel like I’ve ballooned in weight. I’ve had an operation which is taking longer to recover than I thought but unsure why this sudden weight gain.

I’ve been reading through previous posts and many people speak about mucin? Does this cause the bloating /swollen feeling? If so how can I lose mucin? Would water pills help?

From so many previous posts it looks like we all suffer with a puffy face at some time

Also if your slightly over medicated would this help lose weight? Maybe controversial but what would happen if I increased my T3 only dose for a few weeks? What if any side affects could there be? Would it help lose fat or mucin?

If you look at my post about how I all but stopped levo you will see me when I was full of mucin.

I’m on T3. Levo did nothing for me. I think the hashi attack and operation have upset my body but my bloods are optimal. Think I just need to take care of myself for a bit. We just don’t bounce back like we hope

Just give yourself a break. Being bloated and gaining weight are 2 different things. Increasing T3 when your bloods are optimal will backfire. I’m just recovering from overdosing (not intentionally) and I’ve put a bit on but hey I fell 100% better. Too much T3 = insomnia not a nice place to be

Having an operation is traumatic for the body. You will likely have more cortisol which I understand blocks thyroid receptors. So I wouldn’t be surprised if you needed more T3 but if your bloods are good for T3 levels then probably not a good idea to mess with them.

Just keep an eye on your bloods and take it easy. Those with thyroid disorders take a longer to get over illnesses and surgery.

Take care
