Thyroid
Impossible to tell without more details. Do you have any labs to share with us? What 'medication' are you taking? And how much?
Do you get dry eyes and random pains in eyeball ?
I get this, is it a thyroid thing?
I think it is more about NDT and Levo thing, they both dry you out and cause dry sore eyes.
I'm not on any thyroid meds.
Like Clutter says below.
I've been under an ophthalmologist for a few years & have Hashimotos. I just wasn't sure if thyroid caused extremely dry & painful eyes as none of my treatments have worked so far.
Get Coeliac, TSH, FreeT3 and T4 Bloods checked your hashy may have finally done enough damage. Are you gluten free ?
Had coeliac tests when first unwell but had already 99% removed gluten!! I'm GF & dairy free. T4 always just above bottom of range at 11 or 12, T3 mid range, TSH up & down from 2.7-7 (range up to 4.9). I'm TPOab & ANA 1:320 positive. I know graves can cause eye symptoms but unsure about hashi. I have recurrent eye inflammation causing dryness, fairly young! & non-thyroid meds not solving it #fedup!
Burnley1882,
It would be quicker to see an optician and if there is any sign of thyroid eye disease (TED) an optician should pick it up and refer you to an opthalmologist.
