I got my medicheck results back. Can anyone help me with those? It seems that my THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODY and THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES are too high, but I am not quite sure what this means.
Thank you so much.

High antibodies mean that you have an Autoimmune Thyroid Disease called Hashimotos, the commonest form of hypothyroidism. The antibodies attack your thyroid gland until you become hypothyroid and the treatment is the same, i.e. levothyroxine.
Going gluten free can help reduce the antibodies attack on your gland as they wax and wane.
The treatment is the same, ie levothyroxine.
Thank you, so you reckon a trip to the GP who dismissed me? Referral to endocronologist?
email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a copy of the Pulse Online article by Dr Toft (ex President of the British Thyroid Foundation) who recommends, if antibodies present, that we should be given thyroid hormone replacements. Highlight the part and make appointment with GP and say you are now a member of Healthunlocked, Thyroiduk.org.uk, the NHS Choices for help/advice.
I think most GPs only take account of the TSH to decide whether or not we need thyroid hormones.
He may decide that all your other results are good and not prescribe.
Other members will respond too.
HI Can I ask...are you having any symptoms? I am new to this forum and am trying to get my daughters levels (Hashis hypo) pretty much like yours. (She is currently on 100mcg levo) those levels of tsh and free t4 are good I believe. I understand that this may be the start of a prob with the thyroid as we are not suposed to have the antibodies. Would be interested to know if having the antibodies even with the T levels like that, you experience symptoms of any sort. :-)x
I do, that's why I went to the doctor. Above all I developed a goitre, just in the past 2 months my neck circumference has grown by 1.5 cm. Weight gain (despite being a SW member for years and following plan religiously, not much for now, but it feels unfair when you are eating well and gaining weight), joint and muscle pain, extreme fatigue and some other things that may or may not be related.
I thought I had already copied this post in here. Update after my GP visit today (copied from another post):
Hi,
I had a blood test recently (privately) and the write-up was that it is consistent with Hashimoto diagnosis. I have attached the picture. So today, I have had the GP appointment and it went exactly as I thought I would and a bit worse actually. There is nothing wrong with me, the TSH levels are fine. None of my symptoms actually has anything to do with my blood test results. No, Mrs. M, you are depressed. Got given antidepressants and sent home. Oh she has sent on my results to the Endocrinology department but she told me that this is a perfect blood test result. It could not be better.
I do have an ENT referral for my goiter to do a biopsy as the scan has shown lots of nodules and a range of cysts. So that has been processed with some urgency.
So all well then? I will have to be, because where do you go from here.
