Help understanding optimal cortisol levels

I'm struggling to find any comment on optimal cortisol levels, in the UK. My lab test range shows as 6-23. Is there an optimal place to be on this range, or is it desirable merely to be in range?

Apologies for the somewhat vague enquiry, for now.

Thanks in anticipation.
